When Nokia bought OD2 I took a strategic role to identify, test, evaluate and prioritise future roadmap items in the Multi-media division. This included creating concept designs, prototypes, user testing and presenting findings to senior executives and heads of product.
During this time I worked with Nokia’s research partners GfK to carry out a huge music research project, bringing vital insight into the nascent and converging digital music and mobile industries (Apple’s first iPhone launched in June 2007 with iTunes as a key feature).
I led innovation events in the UK and Finland, generating patents for Nokia (one single day event generated eight individual patents).
After a very enjoyable 14 months involving international travel and blue-sky thinking I was energised to learn more about the financing and marketing of product concepts to make successful start-up businesses and so left Nokia to work in Venture Capital.
