2008 – 2010 Bath, UK
Having been through the journey from start-up through acquisition, I wanted to learn more about the Venture Capital business. The opportunity came to take an associate position at the VC firm who had funded On Demand Distribution where I had previously worked.
Eden Ventures operated two separate seed investment funds totalling around £140M.
My prime responsibilities at Eden were to research market opportunities and to generate deal flow. I supported Eden’s investment partners in due diligence and investment deals from £200k to £4.5m.
This involved Identifying and researching emerging markets for technology products and solutions; Reviewing business plans; interviewing technology entrepreneurs; Market sizing and competitor landscape analysis; Mentoring early stage entrepreneurs, including at Seedcamp events.
Eden Ventures was a founder investor in the Seedcamp investment fund. Through this connection I represented Eden at Seedcamp events from Croatia to Israel, mentoring start-ups and judging pitch competitions. I received really positive feedback from founding teams.
This position gave me an incredibly valuable exposure to the technology start-up process including fund-raising and continued my learning of rapid product development.
